Every year, there is a trip to Washington D.C offered to all middle school eighth graders in Manchester. Students get very excited for this trip because it is a time when they get to be away from home with their friends. This year’s DC trip took place over April vacation from April 21st to April 24th.
Hillside was paired up with Parkside. There were nine chaperones who attended this trip and about 100 students between both schools. Two of the chaperones were from Hillside Middle School, Miss Turner and Ms. McDonald. It costs about $736.00 to go on the trip, this includes their hotel room and all of their food and museum trips. It is a 10 hour bus ride on a coach bus to get there. During this time students watch movies or listen to music.
They stay in DC for 4 days and 3 nights. Some of the places they visited were the White House, the 9-11 Memorial, the Capitol building, the Washington Monument, the Newseum and much much more. The students had a blast! The students’ favorite part was eating at Medieval Times. Almost every student came back wearing their new Washington DC merch!
